One Response to October Snowstorm Claims Lives and Leaves Millions Without Power in the Northeast

Why is all the seasons messed up?

Here in the PNW our winters for the last 5 years I swear are getting drier and more fall like while s=Springs are getting wetter with the bulk of our mountain snowoacj happening in March/April and stopping in late June.

Yes I said stopping not melting because stopping is an entire different concept. Once the snowpack has stopped it takes a long time to melt down especially if there is high snow/water ratios unless a major heatwave happens which has not been the case recently.

For the last 50 years the bulk of the snowpack was usually established by Mid February or maybe early March in a late year and by April we have a lot more *partly cloudy* days with a few passing showers from weak systems.

Every couple of years will even feature a long heatwave causing rapid snowmelt and high rivers in April but now that’s not happening until June/July.

Early April was when the snow will be measured to see if we have a *good year* or *bad year* but now snowstorms are going on thru all of May below pass levels causing the final measurements to be faulty.
